I made it to level 26 in Nethack! Furthest yet. Lots of water and tough monsters. Have to watch your footing else you might take a stumble down the stairs.
Had to retreat back upstairs to avoid some baddies, and of course I end up getting killed on level 25 by a vampire lord in bat form. Oh well. At least I got this far. This game is seriously tough. Super fun though.

You haven’t played Nethack in a while. You should do that. 3.6.6 is out now and nothing much has changed, but it is still so fun. I think the highest level I have reached is 14 or 15. I’ve definitely had the vampire death experience a few times and I’ve encountered a big-ass room twice.
Recently, I polymorphed my dog into a black dragon and didn’t realize what had happened for about a hundred turns because I was busy frantically unfucking my mistake in sokoban. Disintregation beams in a leprechaun hall was hilarious and it made the next few levels super easy until I got too cocky in my second big room encounter. It also made the treasure zoo at the end of sokoban much easier. There was a troll I was worried about.. I also saw some form of large cat.. Gelatinous cube was there; good times. Several monsters disintegrated. I got some nice amounts of gold, but the prize turned out to be a bag of holding, of which I already had one. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry about those damn greedy shopkeepers because disintegration beam, but having two bag(s?) of holding(s?) really instilled a sense of OCD in me. It was also very tough to find good rings on this run. I only play monk, so I already had cold resistance, when I came across a ring for it… Then there was, like, a ring of searching, but I picked it up right before sokoban, which would make it very silly to wear because of ring hunger. There was a ring of see invisible, too, but monks already see invisible. No scrolls of genocide from this run, though, sadly.

Nice. I’ll have to try out the new 3.6.6 version. Glad it’s still being maintained/updated. I really should play it on a computer rather than my phone. Too easy to hit the wrong key by mistake on the android version interface. Those magic shops can be some real fun. I like to load up my inventory on as much stuff as possible and read the scrolls one by one and hope one of them teleports me out of the shop, or use a wand of digging to drop to the level below if I have one. The shopkeep sends those keystone caper kops out after you. The kops aren’t so tough but the shopkeepers wand is deadly.
